Knox County Program Coordinators Isaiah 117 House story’s:

Jacquelyn Cunningham: I have always longed to help children and it broke my heart to see the reality some of them are faced with. Kids feeling alone, scared to go to sleep, coming to school dirty or hungry, and watching after themselves and maybe their siblings was too much for me to handle. So, after walking through our own fostering journey, God was telling me I needed to make a change in Knox County.  I needed to do more.  At that point, a caseworker introduced me to Isaiah 117 House and the mission to serve children.  After much praying, texting, calling, and emailing, the executive board approved Knox County for an Isaiah expansion, December of 2019. This is a small step, towards a much bigger problem, but God sees all of his children!

Megan Wedding : I have always wanted to do Gods work. I used to work at a local elementary here in town and the children that where in my class taught me so much. At first, I saw behavioral issues, kids acting out, not wanting to listen. After I was there a while, I learned these children were not misbehaving, they were hurting. If I took the time to actually sit, get on their level, and listen to them, I learned things were not great at home. Some did not sleep because mom and dad were up all night arguing, some had been sent to foster care, the situations were endless. When I showed these children love and that someone did care, the smiles that came to their faces were priceless. When I heard about the Isaiah 117 House, I felt God was placing me right where I needed to be and right where he wants me. I am able to help children in a traumatic situation and show them that they are loved and they are not alone.  I am able to be Gods hands and feet to children in need each and everyday.

Special thanks to our community partners that helped with the opening of our Knox County house:

A special thank you to our Sock Buddies, Church Partners, Youth Groups, Small Groups, Isaiah 117 Team, and especially our Caregiving Volunteers for walking this journey and being the hands and feet. Another Big thank you to Knox County Commissioners for deeding over the property and Wolfe Construction for stepping in and overseeing the beautiful construction process.
